CANTON.
8th. May 1928.
Sir,
In contimation of my despatch No. 50 of the
12th. April regarding the issue of Chinese denation-
alisation certificates, I have the honour to enclose
a copy of the circular letter which I am sending to
those British subjects of Chinese race who have re-
gistered at this Consulate-General, or renewed their
registration, during the last two years, These
number in all about thirty persons.
So far, two applications for denationalisation
have been received and forwarded to the Bureau for
Foreign Affairs. There has not yet been time for a
reply from that office, and it is as yet too early
to learn to what extent Chinese British subjects
are likely to avail themselves of the denationalisation
facilities now offered.
I have the honour to be,
sir,
Your most obedient, humble servant.
(SIGNED)
His Majesty's Minister,
J.F. Brenan.
Acting Consul-General.
PEKING.
